Guard retention, HOLD and supervised recheck

Concept training procedure for an inert fictional fixture. No approved operational SOP supplied. Not an operating instruction.

Objective

Identify a lower-cam discrepancy, make a defensible HOLD decision and state the evidence needed after correction.

Prerequisites

Training sequence

  1. Confirm scope and configuration

Use the inert CV-101 training fixture, model MIN-CV101-MP2 and revision A DRAFT. No real equipment operation is authorized.

  2. Review the required evidence

The exercise requires separate observations of upper CAM_A / KEEPER_A and lower CAM_B / KEEPER_B.

  3. Establish the closed-view context

Select the assembled inspection view. Locate CG101 and the left hinge; do not treat closure as proof of retention.

  4. Inspect upper point A

Locate the captive cam tongue against fixed KEEPER_A. Record the observed engagement state.

  5. Inspect lower point B

Inspect CAM_B against fixed KEEPER_B independently. Do not infer B from A.

  6. Introduce the discrepancy

Select Lower B disengaged. The guard remains closed while the lower tongue turns away from its retaining position.

  7. Choose HOLD

State that lower B is unresolved. A continue or ready decision fails this critical training criterion.

  8. Request simulated supervisor review

Explain which retaining point is unresolved and the evidence observed. Do not attempt to open an engaged guard.

  9. Rehearse supervised correction

After simulated reviewer approval, compare the corrected assembled view. The correction returns B to its keeper with the guard closed.

  10. Recheck both points

Inspect A and B again. A correction does not silently clear the hold or complete the evidence.

  11. Capture the result

Record asset, model/procedure revision, before/after observations, decision, reviewer and remaining questions.

  12. Complete training review

A training reviewer evaluates the evidence. Any real work release remains a separate decision under the equipment owner's approved procedure.

Review

Observed evidence reviewed by a training owner; no competence certification or operating release implied.
